Nomex® Flame/Heat Resistant Zipper
Nomex® is a fire-retardant zipper used in industrial and consumer applications. The application dictates the level of fire protection the zipper must achieve. Nomex® uses an auto lock metal and non-conductive slider as the zip is available in both metals and vislon. The flame and heat resistant are achieved through the application of the meta-aramid fibre tape and high temperature vislon teeth, which makes the zipper stronger against physical forces which are essential for personal protection.

TECHNICAL INFO
The fire-retardant tape materials used on the Nomex® zip are cleared by the U.S. Federal Aviation Specification [FAR-25-853(B)]. The aramid fibre on the tape is inherently flame resistant and can resist heat and flame up to 750F. The Nomex® Vislon zipper has high temperature Nylon polymer teeth up to 500F together with a non-conductive slider “PAZ” which is a high temperature material. The tape in the zipper contains DuPont Kevlar® fibre allowing the zipper to become stronger against physical forces which are essential for personal protection.
NOTE
Care instructions apply:
- “Flame retardant”: The material will burn but self-extinguish. Also, flame-retardant material can melt and drip.
- Nomex® aramid fiber tape to resist heat and flame (up to 750F)
- Nomex® aramid fiber is inherently flame resistant (does not melt or drip when exposed to flame)
- Nomex® Vislon® uses High-temperature Nylon polymer teeth (up to 500F)
- Non-conductive slider “PAZ” (high-temperature Nylon Material) is available in Vislon®
